Advanced Systems Design is seeking a BI Support Specialist, Intermediate for our client located in Tallahassee, FL.

This position is onsite in Tallahassee, FL, and requires in-person availability starting day 1. 

Job Overview:

The BI Support Specialist, Intermediate will serve as the principal line of communication for the project team. The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:

  • Develop and oversee BI tools while possessing a comprehensive understanding of the BI system;
  • Mainly transforms substantial volumes of transactional and historical data into actionable insights through user-friendly, interactive dashboards and reports;
  • Develop and implement a scalable design solution that addresses the evolving business needs within the IT landscape;
  • Collaborate with business users to understand their data needs, translate them into technical specifications, and prioritize reporting requirements;
  • Extract, transform, and load data from various sources (File server, Relational Database Management Systems [RDBMS], Application Programming Interface [API]) into Power BI data models, utilizing Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) to create meaningful metrics and KPIs;
  • Design and build visually appealing dashboards and reports with intuitive navigation;
  • Ensure clear presentation of data at the summary and detailed level;
  • Present findings and recommendations to business stakeholders through reports, presentations, and other communication channels;
  • Perform data quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency of data;
  • Optimize reports for fast loading times and scalability to handle large datasets;
  • Provide training end-users on accessing the application flow, navigation, and interpreting reports effectively; and
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data models, business logic, and user guides.

NOTE: This position is designated as “essential staff” and is expected to report for duty when instructed to do so in times of emergency or potential emergency as required by rule 33-208.002 (4), Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.)

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of IT work experience in business intelligence tools and systems;
  • Analyze BI features, including data modeling, DAX calculations, visualizations, and report design to solve reports and data needs of the business; 
  • Ability to analyze complex datasets, identify trends, and interpret data to extract actionable insights;
  • Strong Structured Query Language (SQL) querying skills to access and manipulate data from various databases;
  • Ability to create visually compelling and user-friendly dashboards and reports;
  • Proactive in problem-solving skills in applying a systematic approach; and
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise of BI technologies (e.g., Microsoft Power BI – PL 300, Oracle BI, Certified Business Intelligence Professional); and 
  • Knowledge of executing DAX queries on the Power BI desktop. 

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree or master's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required. Alternatively, equivalent work experience can be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis, when applicable.
