Advanced Systems Design is seeking a Data Base Administrator, Intermediate for our client located in Montgomery, AL.

This position is onsite in Montgomery, AL, and requires in-person availability starting day 1. 

Job Overview:

  • The resource in this position will handle database administration for mission-critical transactional and Datawarehouse SQL servers, with a significant focus on continuous improvement and technology strategy.
  • The resource manages and maintains all production and non-production databases; is responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access, and security administration; performs backup and recovery on Database Management Systems, configures database parameters, and prototype designs against logical data models, defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements.
  • This position optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, performance, and cost.
  • Additionally, this position will handle web administration for mission-critical web servers, significantly focusing on web applications’ deployment, connectivity, and maintenance.
  • This will include expert escalation for troubleshooting production issues, assisting in the development lifecycle, capacity management, and strategy, operational standards and procedures, stabilization and optimization, performance tuning and monitoring, standards identification and compliance, continuous improvement, and security enhancement.
  • The Database Administrator (DBA) in this position must have a passion for data, databases, and web applications, and bring expertise to help us deliver best-in-class data delivery solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience working as MS SQL Server database administrator and database internals, with a strong focus on SQL Server 2016, 2019, and 2022;
  • 8+ years in SQL Server database performance tuning along with a good understanding of indexing, execution plans, DMV, database storage, database problem identification, problem diagnosis, and resolution;
  • 8+ years writing scripts or using leading tools to monitor, perform backup & recovery, and maintenance automation; hands-on experience in on-prem to cloud migration; hands-on experience in creating and troubleshooting SSIS packages;
  • 5+ years of experience in performing code;
  • 5+ years of experience with MS Internet Information Services (IIS) with a strong focus on server administration and web applications deployment.
  • Supports multiple services and multiple databases of medium to high complexity (complexity defined by database size, technology used, systems feeds, and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility of data.
  • Works on multiple projects as a project leader or sometimes as a project advisor.
  • May coach more junior technical staff.
  • Advanced knowledge in MS SQL Server and Datawarehouse, MS Internet Information Services (IIS), PowerBI, and SSAS;
  • Advanced knowledge in creating, deploying, and monitoring SSIS packages;
  • Good knowledge of maintaining SQL report servers (SSRS);
  • Good knowledge of SQL server encryption;
  • Familiar with industry-level best practices for Microsoft SQL Server security standards;
  • Expert knowledge of backup & recovery;
  • Expert knowledge of on-prem to cloud migration;
  • Good knowledge of Azure, industry-standard server hardware, operating systems, storage, virtualization, and networking technologies;
  • Familiar with PowerShell, database source control, and continuous integration tools;
  • Familiar with RedGate, Tableau, and Idera Data Architect tools;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to getting things done right; eagerness to learn and help others; good written and verbal communication skills and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with creating SSIS packages.
  • Power BI capacity Admin, connecting gateways to data sources, granting access permissions, creating workspaces, publishing Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Familiar with Snowflake; strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and persuade all levels of management.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field.

Education Preferred

  • Microsoft Certification in SQL Server Database Administration.
