Data Base Administrator, Entry - 2292
Advanced Systems Design is seeking a Data Base Administrator, Entry for our client located in Montgomery, AL.
This position is onsite in Montgomery, AL, and requires in-person availability starting day 1.
Job Overview:
- Manages and maintains all production and non-production databases.
- Responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration.
- Performs backup and recovery on Database Management Systems, configures database parameters, and prototype designs against logical data models, defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements.
- This position optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost.
- Additionally, this position will assist with web administration for mission critical web servers with a focus on web applications’ deployment, connectivity and maintenance.
- This will include expert escalation for troubleshooting production issues, assists in development lifecycle, capacity management and strategy, operational standards and procedures, stabilization and optimization, performance tuning and monitoring, standards identification and compliance, continuous improvement, and security enhancement.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in working as MS SQL Server database administrator and database internals, with strong focus in SQL Server 2016, 2019, and 2022;
- 5+ years in SQL Server database performance tuning along with good understanding of indexing, execution plans, DMV, database storage, database problem identification, problem diagnosis and resolution;
- 5+ years writing scripts or using leading tools to monitor, perform backup & recovery, and maintenance automation;
- hands on experience in on-prem to cloud migration; hands on experience in creating and troubleshooting SSIS packages;
- 3+ years of experience in performing code;
- 3+ years of experience with MS Internet Information Services (IIS) with strong focus on server administration and web applications deployment.
- Must have experience and a working and functional understanding of database fundamentals, such as data models, schemas, normalization, indexing, transaction, concurrency, maintaining databases, performance tuning, data security, backup and restoring, disaster recovery, database standards and policies, extract transform and load (ETL) various data types and sources, database plans, ability to work with other technical staff and users.
- Must be a good communicator with organizational skills.
- Specific technical skills and knowledge in Microsoft SQL Server versions 2014 – 2022+, Microsoft SQL programming language, Microsoft Azure, PowerBI, MS Internet Information Services (IIS), SSIS and SSASTL.
- Supports multiple services and multiple databases of medium to high complexity (complexity defined by database size, technology used, systems feeds and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of data.
- Works on multiple projects as a team member, with the ability, knowledge, and skills to act as a lead or sometimes as an advisor.
- May coach more junior technical staff.
- Necessary knowledge in creating, deploying, and monitoring SSIS packages;
- knowledge on maintaining SQL report servers (SSRS);
- knowledge with SQL server encryption;
- familiar with industry-level best practices for Microsoft SQL Server security standards; knowledge on backup & recovery;
- familiar with on-prem to cloud migration;
- knowledge of Azure, industry standard server hardware, operating systems, storage, virtualization, and networking technologies;
- familiar with PowerShell, database source control and continuous integration tools;
- familiar with RedGate, Tableau and Idera Data Architect tools;
- strong problem solving skills and a commitment to getting things done right;
- eagerness to learn and help others; good written and verbal communication skills and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiar with Snowflake;
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and persuade to all levels of management.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related disciplines.
Education Preferred
- Microsoft Certification in SQL Server Database Administration.
