Quality Assurance Analyst


Our client in Tallahassee, FL is seeking a Quality Assurance Analyst. The Quality Assurance Analyst will work under the direction of an assigned Project Manager and in conjunction with the project’s Business Analyst to achieve the goals and objectives of the project. The Quality Assurance Analyst is expected to perform the tasks and specific assignments given by the assigned Project Manager. 

Primary Job Duties/Tasks:

  • Responsible for the analysis, review, and documentation of quality control testing to ensure business requirements are met and are functioning properly
  • Responsible for assisting with the coordination of project deliverables associated with quality control testing
  • Identifying and documenting metrics for success in quality control testing
  • Familiar with interpreting traceability matrices to map business requirements to test cases
  • Responsible for creating and updating use case and test case scenarios documentation
  • Experience with automated test tools and creating performance and load testing/metrics
  • Experience creating system, integration, and performance test plans
  • Contributor to activity definition, activity sequencing, activity resource estimating, activity duration estimating, WBS development to facilitate quality control testing of the application
  • Contributor to risk identification, tracking, analysis related to quality control testing
  • Contributor to issue management and tracking related to quality control testing
  • Effective communication among project stakeholders related to quality control testing
  • Coordinate activities withstaff required to support the project for testing
  • Provide assistance to staff in the preparation of procurement documents and evaluation of proposals as needed
  • Provide weekly status reports to the project manager
  • Assist in user testing
  • Customer expectations met with the project
  • Performing test case scenarios for the upgraded and enhanced SOPS application following the methodology of development testing, System testing, and User Acceptance testing
  • Provide statistical analysis of results
  • Assist with the production implementation as needed
  • Assist with the transition of the production application to the SOPS Maintenance Team; specifically, transitioning the documentation for the system from development to maintenance mode

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience on successful, enterprise level information technology projects;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in integration of multiple systems or applications;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in gathering and documenting business requirements (functional and non-functional) on full life cycle development projects;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience conducting JAD sessions with multi cross functional agencies and stakeholders;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience creating comprehensive Test Plans and use of automated testing tools;
  • Technical knowledge and experience in testing the J2EE/JAVA, JBOSS application server, MS SQL and ORACLE database environments.
  • Knowledge at an expert level in all phases of system development and must have understanding of business, business insight and broad understanding of multiple business areas.
  • Ability to perform technical research of technologies and methods for testing the functional and nonfunctional requirements.
  • Ability to model and apply software engineering methods and techniques to the design, definition, development, evaluation, integration, and/or support of IT solutions.
  • Ability to work independently or cooperatively with other software developers.
  • Ability to function as a technical consultant or researcher
  • Skill to perform analysis and troubleshooting of system defects and issues.
  • Ability to design quality control and test procedures.
  • Ability to apply technical expertise to test system solutions. 
  • Skill to use defined procedures to configure, test and debug software.
  • Ability to investigate, analyze and resolve problems on software products.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision from more senior resources
  • Ability to handle the testing portion of the project, including services/products/technology solution evaluations/modifications, data development, analysis, first draft written communications and client interaction.
  • Accountable to the assigned Project Manager for all phases of specific projects.
  • Ability to test the project components in the agreed schedule, to the correct technical specification (i.e. defined to meet user requirements) within the approved budget and other specified criteria
  • Ability to test in the following environments:
    • Java 8.0 and higher
    • J2EE (JSP, EJB)
    • Java Frameworks like JSF, Struts, etc
    • Oracle 11g and higher o Stored procedures, triggers, views, etc.
    • JBOSS 5.0 and higher
    • Silk Central to use the automated testing tools including Silk Test, SilkPerformer, Visual Studio and open source
  • Ability to create test plans, test cases, and performance testing
  • Experience in integration of multiple systems or applications
  • Experience with meeting facilitation to walk-thru test case/scenario documentation;
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills; and
  • Excellent oral, written and communication skills;

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with development in Java Frameworks (.JSF) and J2EE

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field or equivalent work experience
