Advanced Business Analyst

Overview:

A client of ASD is actively seeking an Advanced Business Analyst to join their team, located in Tallahassee, Florida. The selected candidate will serve as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs. They must possess expertise in the business unit(s) they support, as well as, an understanding of the IT organization’s systems and capabilities. Analysis of business partner’s operations will be conducted to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions. They will also assist in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology and translate high-level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications. Additionally, the sleected applicant will be responsible for educating the IT organization on the direction of the business and negotiate agreements and commitments by facilitating communication between business unit(s) and IT from initial requirements to final implementation. Possessing an understanding of technological trends will be key and use of this knowledge will be used to bring solutions to business units supported to enhance the enterprise’s competitive edge. They may make recommendations for buy vs. build decision. Candidate will be REQUIRED to interview in-person for this position in Tallahassee, FL. NO phone / skype interviews will be accepted.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Facilitate joint analysis workshops with customers.
  • Research and understand DOT business processes and their inter-relationships.
  • Gather, document, and manage business and technical requirements
  • Assist customers with development of business cases.
  • Develop business and system analysis and design models with Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect and Visio using Unified Modeling Language (UML), Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN), and other methods.
  • Perform oversight reviews of requirements deliverables for compliance with department standards.
  • Perform application testing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Business Analysis:
Ability to perform detailed research, business analysis, as-is and to-be analysis, process modeling.
System Analysis & Design: 
Ability to perform System Analysis & Design using a variety of modeling methodologies and techniques.
Facilitation:
Ability to expertly facilitate joint analysis workshops with customers.
Technical Understanding:
Technical knowledge and understanding of IT infrastructure and software development practices and techniques.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
